Hue City Tour Full Day

In the morning, our tour guide and friendly driver will pick you up at your hotel in the city centre and then follow in the footsteps of emperors with an insightful day tour of Hue.

Start with a visit to the exciting Dong Ba Market. The stalls are teeming with color and a great place to catch a glimpse of everyday life. Then, head to the Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. It’s within these 2-meter-thick and 10-kilometer-long walls that you’ll find several of the city’s best collection of royal residences, lush gardens and imperial courts, from the Flag Tower, to the many ornate pagodas and the Forbidden Purple City. While much of this site was destroyed during the Tet Offensive in 1968, it is still possible to gain some insights into how the Royal family lived during peak rule.

Next, drive to see Thanh Toan Bridge, an ornate covered bridge hard to find without local knowledge. Further, immerse yourself in the best of Hue countryside with a ride through stunning surroundings, passing infinity rice fields, to a small village that specializes in making incense sticks.

Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant, then continue with visits to two of the most impressive emperor’s tombs to take in its astonishing architectural beauty. From there, move to Tiger Arena, where duels between elephants and tigers were arranged for the entertainment of the Emperors right up until 1904.

After a day taking in the many sights of Hue, enjoy a relaxing boat trip along Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda (Celestial Lady), the most sacred temple in the area. Take in the magic of Hue’s most iconic temple before your tour ends.
